Valentine's Day Sweep

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Kearney, Neb. –Sophmore first baseman Hailey Schaneman knocked in five runs to help Nebraska-Kearney beat Midwestern State, 9-3, and Southwestern Oklahoma State, 9-8, Friday in Wichita Falls, Texas.

The games were part of the MSU Texas Invite, hosted by Midwestern State. UNK (5-3) faces Northwestern Oklahoma State and Cameron on Saturday.

UNK pounded out 23 hits to win two games with Schaneman (Grand Junction, Colo.) going 4 for 8 with five RBI's and a run scored. Omaha sophomore outfielder Jasmyn Broussard went 3 for 4 with four runs scored to help the cause.

Against SWSOU (0-5) UNK scored two in the fourth, five in the fifth and two in the sixth to hold on. Schaneman belted a three-run homer to left in the fifth, making it 7-4. The 'Dawgs countered with a Grand Slam in the fifth but a two out, two-run single by Missouri senior outfielder Alexis Ray was the key hit in the sixth.  Australian lefty Shae Muggridge worked a clean seventh to pick up the save.

UNK scored runs in six innings to down tourney host MSU (0-7) in the opener. Schaneman went 2 for 4 with two RBI's as the Lopers tallied 15 hits. Colorado senior Erin Hallman earned the win by allowing three earned over five full innings.
