Lions Score at the End of Both Halves to Win

Kearney, Neb. – Sophomore reserve Ella Durocher scored right before halftime and then senior Tayler Ohu scored with four minutes left to help Missouri Southern State down Nebraska-Kearney, 2-0, Friday night in Joplin.

This was "Senior Night" for the Lions who improve to 3-8-2 (2-4-0) and to 3-2-2 at home.

Redshirt freshman keeper Eden Miura (Las Vegas, Nev.) made her second collegiate start and recorded four saves before Durocher tallied her third goal of the year. After a goal kick, the Lions countered and kept possession on the UNK side of the field. Freshman Braylee Childers poked a pass to Durocher who found the right corner of the net.

UNK was on the move early but junior keeper Riley Laver stopped a shot taken by senior Bridget Barker (St. Louis) with the Lion defense blocking shots taken by senior Kylee Moore (Omaha Burke) and redshirt sophomore Ariella Mesa (Olathe, Kan.).

The Lopers then had four corners in the second half but couldn't capitalize. Laver ended the night with six saves with redshirt freshman Emery Mounce (Spring Hill, Kan.) having six second half saves. Barker, Moore and South Dakota senior Kassidy Kirsch each had two shots on goal with Barker and Moore having three shots overall. Finally, New Jersey freshman Angelina Iocca led six reserves with 49 minutes of action.

The Lopers are at nationally-ranked Central Missouri on Sunday.
