Lutes Swim Past UNK Tuesday Night in Tacoma

Kearney, Neb. – The Nebraska-Kearney Aqualopers finished up a very long road trip with a Tuesday night dual against the Pacific Lutheran Lutes in Tacoma, Wash.

UNK had six third place finishes and three runner up performances to trail Division III PLU by a 134-51 score. The Lutes men swam basically an intrasquad meet at the same time. Over the weekend, the Aqualopers competed in two duals at D2 Alaska-Fairbanks.

True freshman Tea Oltjenbruns (Phoenix) swam lead for the 400 medley relay team that came in second in a time of 4:21.99. That squad also consisted of sophomore Emily Miksch (Columbus Scotus), junior Audrey Stelling (Norfolk) and senior Claire Nash (Overland Park, Kan.).

Next, Oltjenbruns came in third in the 50 backstroke (31:16) with Miksch third in the 50 breaststroke (33.98) and Stelling third in the 50 butterfly (29.35). Finally, true freshman Madison Kathol (Elkhorn H.S.) was third in the 500 free (5:48.05) with sophomore Macy Mollring (Elkhorn H.S.) third in the 200 individual medley (2:29.48) and swimming lead on the third place 400 free team (3:59.72).

That foursome also included true freshman Ava Heasty (Lincoln Pius) who was runner up in the 200 free (2:05.16). Nash was UNK's other second place finisher (100 free/55.41).

The Aqualopers are back in action Nov. 6-7 when they hosted several schools at the Kearney High Pool.
