Kearney, Neb. – The Nebraska-Kearney men's basketball team sunk 12 three pointers and three starters score in double figures to fly past Minnesota-Crookston, 75-57, Saturday afternoon in Duluth, Minn.

The game was part of the "American Family Insurance Classic", hosted by Minnesota-Duluth. UNK fell to UMD, 77-64, on Friday night with the UMC Golden Eagles hitting a buzzer beater to nip East Central (Okla.), 72-70.

There was little drama today as UNK led for 31 minutes and by as many as 20 points. The Lopers sunk eight triples in the first half to go into the locker room up 38-19. Kearney then was 7 of 8 at the line in the second half and made four more bombs to prevent any hope of a UMC comeback. Finally, this was the second straight game UNK had less than 10 turnovers (seven).

Alliance super senior Austin Luger tallied a team-high 19 points thanks to 4 of 6 three point shooting. He made 3 of 7 treys Friday night. The forward also had nine rebounds (eight defensive) and made all three freebies he attempted. Next, Utah senior forward Darrian Nebeker racked up 17 points, eight assists and six rebounds. He finished 7 of 12 from the field and was one of four Lopers to draw two fouls.

The game was tied at 17 before Kearney went on an 14-0 run late in the first half to take control. Nebeker scored the final five in this stretch with a triple from Colorado true freshman Sean Evans starting things. He worked around four fouls to have 14 points, three boards and two dimes. UMC didn't get closer than nine points the rest of the day.

Crookston got 19 points and five rebounds from 6-7 junior forward Leonard Dixon. The Golden Eagles were held to 38% shooting and 13 turnovers led to 16 UNK points.

Finally for the Lopers, Colorado redshirt junior point guard David Simental had 14 points and three defensive rebounds with the bench led by Colorado true freshman guard Tom Connelly who hit two triples and grabbed three boards in 19 minutes.

UNK hosts Chadron State (Wed.) and nationally-ranked Colorado Mines (Sat.) next week.
