Kearney, Neb. – Seven members of the Nebraska-Kearney volleyball team have been selected to the 2021 All-MIAA team.

Making the first-team is super senior middle Anna Squiers (Kearney Catholic) and super senior setter Madison Squiers (Kearney Catholic) as well as redshirt sophomore outside Emersen Cyza (Alliance). On the second-team is senior libero Lindsay Nottlemann (Lincoln Pius X), redshirt sophomore middle Bailee Sterling (Kearney H.S.) and redshirt freshman right side Lauren Taubenheim (Lincoln Pius X). Finally, redshirt sophomore outside Cecilia Beahm (Hastings H.S.) was named honorable mention.

Head coaches vote on the makeup of the team and cannot vote for their own players. Due to the pandemic, there wasn't an official All-MIAA team for the non-countable 2021 spring season.

Anna Squiers joins libero Ellie McDonnell (2015-18) and middle Tara Ziegelbein (2014-17) as the only Lopers to earn four All-MIAA honors in a career. She was a second-team pick in 2017 and 2018 and a first-team selection in 2019. Next, Madison Squiers is a repeat first-team selection with Nottlemann bumping up from the 2019 second-team. Finally, the others earn their first all-league honor.

Madison Squiers directs an offense that is firing all cylinders during the current 11-match win streak (15 kills per set and a .310 attack pct.). Recently reaching the rare 6,000 career assist milestone, she's at 11.9 assists, 3.1 digs, 0.9 kills, 0.5 aces and 0.4 blocks per set while hitting .297. Anna Squiers is at 2.8 kills and a team-best 0.9 blocks per set and hitting a team-high .388. She also is one of eight Lopers with at least 10 aces.

Next to her is Sterling, a first-year starter, who comes in at 1.9 kills and 0.5 block per set with a .351 hitting efficiency. Locking down the right side spot the second half of the year has been Taubenheim. One of UNK's top passers, she's up to 1.1 kills, 1.9 digs and 0.3 blocks per set.

On the outside are two new starters in Cyza (U. of Wyoming) and Beahm (Hastings College). Cyza is at a team-best 3.40 kills per set and averaging an even 4.00 kps during the recent win streak. She's hitting .265 overall and also has provided 12 aces and 45 digs. Beahm, missing some time due to injury, has the second highest kills per set average (2.8) on UNK while hitting .230 and recording 30 blocks at the net.

Finally in the backrow, Nottlemann is at a team-best 5.1 digs per set. She is just the 34th Loper to reach 1,000 career digs (now 1,169) and also has provided 77 assists and 11 aces to date.

UNK (24-5) is the fourth-seed in the MIAA Tournament and hosts Central Oklahoma (19-9) tonight at 6 p.m. in the Health & Sports Center.
