Kearney, Neb. – The Nebraska-Kearney track and field team had 21 top 10 finishes at the Ichabod Invitational Saturday in Topeka, Kan.

The large and very competitive meet was not scored and featured Division II schools from a wide area.

Grand Island senior Mackenzie Puckett led the way by winning the triple jump with a career-best leap of 38-7.75. The effort moves her up a spot to fourth in Loper lore while placing her on the national list (15th) for the first time this winter. UNK Track

Also having provisional efforts were Hastings junior Seth Simonson in the mile and Giltner redshirt sophomore Alex Goracke in the weight throw. Simonson ran a career-low 4:08.81 to place fifth with Goracke coming in seventh thanks to a heave of 59-4.75. Simonson moves up five spots on the UNK all-time top 10 list to third with Goracke now seventh in the annuals. Both are now in the national top 30 in their respective events.

Kearney sophomore Brayden Sorensen was UNK's other winner on the day, clearing 6-9.75 in the high jump. Florida junior Montrez Jackson was four spots back with an effort of 6-7.50. Also on the men's side Fremont redshirt freshman Wes Ferguson was one of three Lopers in the 600-yard top six, coming in second in a time of 1:11.79. That is just off the school-record of 1:11.54, set by Simonson a year ago. Ogallala senior Max Lindgren (1:12.66) and Kearney junior Cole Willis (career-best 1:13.19) were fifth and sixth, respectively, in the race.

Next, McCook senior Tiara Schmidt was runner up in both the shot put (44-8.25) and weight throw (60-11.25). Colorado senior Logan Prater was fourth in the weight throw with a toss (57-1) that moves her up to 20th nationally. Finally, Abie junior Rebekah Roh was second in the 600-yard run (1:27.33), O'Neill freshman Abby Everitt tied for fourth in the high jump (5-3.75) and Gothenburg sophomore Hannah Anderson was fifth at 800 meters (2:18.70).
