Aqualopers Remain Seventh at RMAC's

Kearney, Neb. – The Nebraska-Kearney Aqualopers remained in seventh place after the third day of the 2021 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Championships.

The four-day meet concludes Saturday night and is being hosted by Colorado Mesa. The Mavericks (818.50 points) are well on their way to winning the team title with Colorado School of Mines more than a distant second (435). UNK has 112 points to be ahead of Adams State and not too far behind Colorado State-Pueblo (187).

Columbus freshman Emily Miksch tallied five points in the 100-breaststroke by turning in a finals time of 1:09.02. That ranks third best in school history with her prelim time (1:10.42) placing her in the top 10 initially. Next, UNK tallied 16 points in the 200-butterfly as Elkhorn freshman Macy Mollring came in eighth (converted 2:20.82) and Colorado freshman Katie Cornelio (converted 2:21.13) was 12th. Both move into the Aqualoper top 10, Mollring being sixth and Cornelio seventh.

Finally, Cornelio was the fastest of five UNK swimmers in the 500 freestyle (21st/converted 5:39.46) with Norfolk sophomore Audrey Stelling leading the team in the 100-backstroke (20th/1:02.57). UNK did miss out on some team points as its 800-freestyle relay team was disqualified for leaving one block a tad early.

Action resumes Saturday at 10 a.m. Central.
