Kearney, Neb. – The Nebraska-Kearney track and field team won two events and had five provisional efforts at the Emporia State Relays this weekend in Kansas.

The two-day meet began on Friday and was UNK's first outdoor competition since the 2019 NCAA Championships.

Making the national list was Utica senior Tanner Barth (shot put), McCook redshirt junior Tiara Schmidt (shot put), Central City redshirt junior Andrew Schuller (hammer and discus) and Kearney redshirt freshman Brayden Sorensen (high jump).

Schuller came in fourth in the discus with a toss of 168-4 while placing third in the hammer with the fifth best toss in school history (191-4). Next, Barth was sixth in the shot with a career-best heave of 56-0; that moves him up to eighth in Loper lore. Finally on the men's side, Sorensen was runner up in in the high jump at 6-8.75.

Coming off an All-American indoor season, Schmidt was second in the shot thanks to a throw of 45-5.25. Also on the women's side, four Lopers cracked the top 14 in the 800 led by David City redshirt sophomore Rebekah Roh (7th/2:21.01) with Kansas true freshman Jaida McEwen having the fourth best throw in school history in the javelin (133-2). That was good for seventh place. Finally, Omaha redshirt sophomore Alyssa Schlaht was fourth (5-5) and O'Neill freshman Abby Everitt fifth (5-3.75) in the high jump.

Besides the provisional qualifiers, the UNK men saw Bertrand freshman Jack Drahota come in seventh in the 400 hurdles (56.08) and 12th in the 110 hurdles (15.56). Next, New Mexico senior Lindsey Larabee was sixth in the pole vault (15-5.75) by judge's decision with Ogallala senior Max Lindgren eighth in the 800 (1:57.06).

UNK is at home next Saturday at Kearney High with the Central Nebraska Challenge.
