Kearney, Neb. – The Nebraska-Kearney women's tennis team easily swept both Colorado State-Pueblo and Colorado Mesa, 7-0, Friday afternoon in Pueblo.

This is the Lopers annual fall trip to Colorado to start the season. UNK (3-0) beat Metro State, 6-1, Thursday in Denver.

Kearney didn't lose a single match on Friday, allowing just six combined points in doubles and taking each singles match in straight sets. CSUP mustered just six combined points overall with Mesa mustering no more than four points in any match.

Newcomers Masha Hatouka (Belarus) and Narindra Ranaivo (Madagascar) teamed up at number three doubles to win twice while holding down the fifth and sixth spots in singles. Next, returners Myrzaiym "Mia" Sherikulova (Kyrgyzstan) and Melisa Becerra (Colombia) won twice at number one doubles with newcomer Merci Hood (Adams Central) recording an exhibition win vs. Mesa. Finally, senior Pranathi Gannavaram (Lee's Summit, Mo.) and junior Thi Huynh (Lincoln North Star) took an exhibition doubles match vs. the CMU Mavericks.

UNK heads to Creighton next weekend for the Bluejay Invitational.
