Kearney, Neb. – The 45th-ranked Nebraska-Kearney women's golf team fired a 36-hole total of 615 to win the annual Wildcat Classic Tuesday afternoon in Wayne.

The 10-team field played the par 72 Wayne C.C. (5,918 yards). UNK was the highest nationally-ranked team in the field which consisted of eight schools from the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conf. (NSIC) and Northwest Missouri State.

This was the Lopers final regular season event of the 2021-22 season. UNK wins for the second time and has its sixth top two finish. The MIAA Championships are slated for April 21-23 in Newton, Kan., with NCAA Regionals later in May. Kearney is in good shape to qualify for that event.

UNK's efforts of 306 and 309 were enough to hold off Concordia-St. Paul (622) and the host Wildcats (626). The score is the sixth best in school-history.

CSP's Anna Tollette earned medalist honors with a 6-over 150 (72-78). She held off a day two charge from Puerto Rico senior Faviola Gonzalez (151) who carded Tuesday's best round (73). Gonzalez shot up 13 places thanks to an eagle on the par 5 13th hole (458 yards), two birdies and 10 pars.

Next, Kansas sophomore Allison Comer finished third with a 152 (73-79). She had 12 pars and two birdies on Monday to have a 73 for a second straight tournament. Kansas freshman Brooke King moved up six places on Tuesday and ended with a 156 (78-78). Tying for ninth, she managed three birdies Tuesday and 12 pars on Monday.

Finally, Colombian freshman Juliana Botero Molina tied for 17th (158; 79-79) and Arizona junior Paige Lucero tied for 25th (162; 77-85). She was 2-under on par 5 holes with Botero having 20 pars. Playing as individuals were Minden freshman Kendall Colby (T-41st; 170; 84-86) and Bayard sophomore Avery Mitchell (T-44th; 171; 88-83).
