UNK Falls at No. 6 UCO; Big Match Next Friday

Kearney, Neb. – The sixth-ranked Central Oklahoma Bronchos swept 42nd-ranked Nebraska-Kearney, 7-0, Friday afternoon in Edmond.

UCO (13-1, 6-0) pushes its win streak to seven in a row while UNK (11-8, 4-3) sees a four-match win streak come to an end.

Having two nationally-ranked singles players and two nationally-ranked doubles teams, the 'Chos down the Lopers for an eighth straight time. They allowed a combined three points at number one and three doubles with number two going unfinished.

In singles, UCO won five matches in straight sets. Lincoln freshman Clare Plachy was poised to get UNK on the board as she won her second set, 6-0, at number five singles to tie things up. She then led the third set 3-1 but sophomore Blythe Buntrock rallied for a 6-3 win.

The Lopers Sunday match at Southeastern Oklahoma State has been canceled. UNK closes out the regular season next Friday at home against Missouri Western State (13-4, 4-2). That 3 p.m. dual will have NCAA Tournament ramifications.
