Kearney, Neb. – The Nebraska-Kearney softball team is the seventh-seed in this year's MIAA Tournament and will take on second-seed and nationally-ranked Central Oklahoma Wednesday night in a first round game.

The Lopers (23-25, 13-13) are making its first appearance in the MIAA's since joining the league in 2013. The last postseason game for the program came in April 2012 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) Tournament.

The MIAA's will be Wednesday through Saturday at UCO's Gerry Pinkston Stadium with the winner receiving an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. All games can be viewed on The MIAA Network with the live stat link on the Loper schedule page.

UNK and Emporia State both had the same league records this spring and both were swept by MIAA regular season champion Washburn. The Lopers won the tie-breaker thanks to a 3-0 win over UCO (44-8, 23-3) on April 22. That marked Kearney's second win over the 'Chos in the last four meetings between the two.

Third-seed and nationally-ranked Rogers State (43-9, 20-6) takes on sixth-seed Missouri Southern State (26-23, 14-12) on UNK's side of the bracket. The game begins at 4 p.m. Wednesday; note rain is in the forecast.
