Aqualopers Compete in Edmond; Sioux Falls Next Up

Kearney, Neb. – The Nebraska Kearney Aqualopers tallied 42 points at this past weekend's Eagle Invitational in Edmond.

Eight squads took part in the multi-day event with host Oklahoma Christian Eagles winning (1,106.50 points) and Western Colorado the runner up (693.5). The field consisted of six NCAA Division II programs, one NAIA school and one junior college. Four D2 men's squads also took part in the meet.  

Kansas sophomore Gabby Grace had UNK's top effort, placing 11th in the 100-backstroke (1:00.71) to score six team points. In the 100-breaststroke, Columbus senior Emily Miksch was 13th (1:09.83) to tally four points. The Aqualopers other 32 points came in relays with the 200-freestyle placing the highest (12th) as it turned in a 1:44.23. That group consisted of Miksch, Oklahoma junior Makayla Seal, Grace and Norfolk sophomore Maggie Waddington.

In other individual events, Colorado junior Karley Bennett paced UNK in the 100-butterfly (1:02.66), 200-individual medley (2:20.55) and 200-breaststroke (2:38.87) with Waddington leading in both the 50 (25.92) and 200 (2:07.27) freestyles. They also swam on several different relay teams. Finally, Colorado freshman Katia Neufeld-Barclay led the team again in the 500 (5:48.84) and 1,000 (12:11.28) freestyles with Scottsbluff freshman Patricia Woolsey UNK's top entry in the 100-free (57.30).

UNK heads North this weekend to take part in the Augie Invite in Sioux Falls.
