Fourth Weekend on the Road

Kearney, Neb. – The Nebraska Kearney softball team remains on the road again this weekend with a tournament in Topeka, Kan.

Due to weather up North, the schedule for the Washburn Invitational has slightly changed. UNK (5-8) still has five games over three days, facing Rockhurst, Mo. (2-2) and Sioux Falls (0-4) on Friday, Missouri-St. Louis (3-3) on Saturday morning and then St. Cloud State (2-2) and Minnesota-Crookston (4-2) on Sunday.

Junior outfielder Carly Dembowski (.333, two HR's, eight RBI's), sophomore pitcher/infielder Sydney Thomason (.318, two HR's, five RBI's) and senior catcher Katie Gosker (.313, four HR's, nine RBI's) are pacing the offense with the staff fanning 67 in 86.2 innings. Thomason and California freshman Faith Gaynor have combined for five wins with Thomas and Colorado junior Stacy Bott with a save apiece.

UNK heads further South next weekend for the Drury Classic in Springfield, Mo. The Lopers again face UMC as well as the host Drury Panthers (4-9), NAIA Evangel (4-2) and Augustana (2-4).
