MIAA Men's & Women's Cross Country Academic Awards Announced

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association announced its academic awards for the 2023 cross country season. There were a total of 192 men's and women's cross country student-athletes who earned a spot on the Academic Honor Roll. Additionally, 24 achieved the Association's Academic Excellence award and 18 student-athletes were named Scholar-Athletes.

A total of 16 women's cross country student-athletes and eight men's cross country student-athletes earned the distinguished Academic Excellence Award. An MIAA Academic Excellence Award recipient must have a grade point average used by the institution for purposes of NCAA academic certification of 4.00 or better at the certifying member institution. The honoree also must have at least two terms of attendance at the certifying member institution, excluding summer terms. The Scholar-Athlete list included 11 from women's cross country student-athletes and seven from men's cross country. To qualify as a Scholar-Athlete an individual must have a grade point average used by the institution for purposes of NCAA academic certification of 3.50 at the certifying member institution. The student-athlete must have at least two terms of attendance at the certifying member institution, excluding summer terms. If competing in a championship sport of the MIAA, the student-athlete must also earn All-MIAA honors from the 2023 season. For cross country, the top-20 finishers at the MIAA championships earn All-MIAA recognition. The achievement of Academic Honor Roll was accomplished by 85 women's cross country student-athletes and 107 men's cross country student-athletes. To be recognized on the Academic Honor Roll, one must have a grade point average used by the institution for purposes of NCAA academic certification of 3.00 at the certifying member institution. The individual must also have at least two terms of attendance at the certifying member institution, excluding summer terms.
