Bearcats and Miners Strike Quick to Down the Lopers; Two More Games Sunday

Kearney, Neb. – The Nebraska-Kearney softball team lost to Southwest Baptist, 8-0 (6 innings), and Missouri S&T, 15-4 (5 innings), Saturday in Springfield, Mo.
 
The games were part of the Drury Softball Classic. UNK (8-7) faces Minnesota-Duluth (9-4) and the host DU Panthers (7-8) on Sunday.

The Lopers were behind the eight ball in both games today as SBU (8-10) jumped out to a 4-0 lead after a half inning with the Miners (9-15) up 7-0 after their first at-bat.
 
In game one against SBU, the Bearcats took advantage of 10 walks and two errors to build a 6-0 lead after three. Sophomore Emma Kreisel moved to 4-1 on the young season by throwing a one-hit, six inning complete game shutout. She fanned seven, walked three and gave up just a single to Colorado junior catcher Jaiden Harteker in the second. The 'Cats offense was paced by left fielder Angelina Micone and designated player Emma Vincent who had two hits apiece.
 
S&T's seven-run first in the nightcap featured seven hits including four doubles. Senior Brynn Wooldridge (4-5) had a five-inning, six-hit complete game as she struck out four and walked three. Five of her teammates had two hits apiece including leadoff hitter and right fielder Isabella Welton (2 for 3, two runs & one RBI).
 
UNK saw Colorado junior center fielder Eden McNally finish 2 for 3 with a run and RBI from the two hole with Omaha senior right fielder Abbie Jo Gaube 1 for 2 with a run and RBI.
