Lopers Finish Up Fall in St. Joe; Hope to Return in May

Kearney, Neb. – The Nebraska Kearney women's golf team finished up its fall slate by finishing in 12th place at the annual MWSU Holiday Inn Express Invitational.

The two-day, 19-team event was held at the par 72 St. Joseph C.C. (5,822 yards) with the average score by an 82.7. The course is the NCAA Central Regional host site on May 4-6, 2026, with 18 teams, plus selected individuals, qualifying.

UNK had rounds of 323 and 330 to best four MIAA rivals, Wayne State, Sioux Falls and Oklahoma Baptist. Southwestern Oklahoma State (616) won while Harding (Ark.) was 11 strokes back in second. The Lopers were just nine shots from being seventh. 

Arizona senior Emmie Rhude (76-85) and Texas junior Sofia Wildeman (81-80) both shot 161 to tie for 27th place. Rhude's two days included five birdies in round one with Wildeman recording four birdies on Monday. Playing as an individual, Kansas senior Beth Grant paced the Lopers with a 23rd place effort (160; 78-82). She had four birdies overall. SWOSU's Mria Velilla was the medalist by three strokes thanks to a 4-over 148 (76-72).

Also, Kansas junior Claire Berquist tied for 50th (165; 84-81), Kansas junior Liz Lyons tied for 60th (167; 83-84) and Minnesota sophomore Calie Dockter tied for 72nd (169; 83-86). Dockter recorded three birdies, Berquist had two with Lyons at 16 pars.

The Lopers will tee it up again in Spring 2026.
