11/23/2025 3:15:00 PM

Kearney, Neb. – The Nebraska Kearney swimming and diving team finished up its fall slate by placing fourth at the KC Crown Classic this weekend in Topeka, Kan.

The three-day meet was hosted by the University of St. Mary (Kan.) and attended by D2 members William Jewell, Rockhurst, Southwest Baptist, Oklahoma Christian and then Barton County C.C. It featured prelims and finals throughout with UNK tallying 530 points and WJC (916) winning by 99 points.

On Thursday, Kansas freshman Joslynn Grace broke a five-year old school-record in the 200-individual medley by turning in a 2:11.38 in prelims. That bests the 2:12.26 Olivia Forrest had in Feb. 2020. Grace went onto finish fourth in the finals (2:11.52) and then was fifth in the 400 I.M. (4:42.54). That is the second-best time in Aqualoper lore and about a second off Forrest's record. Kansas City freshman Jacey McGraw was eighth in this event and moved into the Top 10 (7th/4:56.80) as well with Grace later coming in fifth in the 200-butterfly (2:16.69).

Next, McGraw was one of three to place in the Top 12 in the 200-backstroke (7th; prelim 2:16.24) with Norfolk senior Maggie Waddington racking up the team points as usual. She was runner up in the 100-free (53.22), third in the 50-free (24.21 finals; 24.20 prelims), fifth in the 100-back (59.95), and 15th in the 200-free (2:03.92). Finally in individual events, Colorado freshman Delaney Madnikoff was eighth in the 200-breaststroke (2:33.09) and ninth in the 100-breast (1:09.40) with Oklahoma senior Miriam Finch eighth in the 1,650-free (19:56.22).

In relays, Waddington, Grace and Beatrice freshman Jaedyn Baxa were busy with both the 200 (1:39.85) and 400 (3:38.91) free squads finishing fourth.

UNK competes again in Jan. 2026.
