Aqualopers Win in Fremont to Close Out the Semester

Kearney, Neb. – The Nebraska Kearney Aqualopers finished up a busy fall semester by scoring 1,288 points to win the Warrior Invitational this weekend in Fremont.

The three-day meet was hosted by Midland University and featured the Warriors, College of Saint Mary, Iowa Western C.c. and Iowa Lakes C.C. There were prelims and finals in most events throughout the three days.

UNK had six first place finishes and showed off its depth by placing four or five in the top 10 in multiple events. The top point scorers were Kansas freshman Joslynn Grace, Norfolk senior Maggie Waddington, Wyoming sophomore Jaesa Whitesell, Missouri freshman Jacey McGraw and Beatrice freshman Jaedyn Baxa.

Finishing first was Waddington (50 free/24.59), Grace (200-fly/2:19.53), Tekamah sophomore Gabriella Roche (1,650 free/20:33.26) and McCook freshman Maryann Kassner on the 1-meter board (6 dives/243.85 points; 11 dives/379.55). UNK's other victory was in the 200-free relay (1:41.52) which featured Baxa, Grace, Waddington and Kearney sophomore Katy Buse.

Next, McGraw was third in the 200-back (2:17.11) and 200-free (2:03.83), Grace was runner up in the 100-breaststroke (1:10.19) and third in the 50 free (26.96), Waddington was runner up in the 100-back (1:02.89) and Whitesell second in the 200-I.M. (2:22.41) and third in the 100 (1:10.65) and 200 (2:39.80) breaststrokes. Finally in individual events, Colorado freshman Delaney Madnikoff was runner up in the 200-breast (2:35.67), Kansas senior Reese True was second in the 100-fly (1:01.94) and Omaha sophomore Josey Fink was runner up in the 1,650-free (20:38.32).

Besides winning the 200-free relay, Baxa, Grace, Buse and Waddington were busy in the other relay events as well. UNK was second in the 400-free (3:43.88) and 400-medley (4:11.83) and third in both the 200-medley and 800-free.

The Aqualopers enter the pool again in Jan. 2026.
