KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association announced its first standings update for the 2025-2026 Commissioner's Cup, presented by Impact Signs. The Pittsburg State Gorillas take the first lead in the cup's standings through the completion of the 2025 fall sports seasons.

The MIAA Commissioner's Cup, presented by Impact Signs, is the Association's all-sports trophy awarded to the league's top-performing university at the end of each academic year. The Commissioner's Cup point system reflects each team's finish in MIAA-only competition. The number of points awarded per sport is based on the number of schools that participate in that particular sport. Each institution's point total is then divided by the number of athletic programs it sponsors, yielding an overall average finish for the school. MIAA Cup 2

"The MIAA would once again like to thank Impact Signs for being the presenting sponsor for this important MIAA award," said MIAA Commissioner Mike Racy. "Impact Signs in an industry leader in the marketing and branding space, and we appreciate their support of the MIAA conference office and our member institutions!"

Eight MIAA champions were crowned in the Association's fall sport seasons with three outright champions and five co-champions. Pittsburg State collected three MIAA titles in the sports of football, women's cross country and women's soccer to gain an early lead in the 2025-26 standings with a fall point average of 12.80. The Bearcats of Northwest Missouri are the current runners-up with a 10.80 fall average. Washburn ranks third with a fall points average of 9.97, followed by Rogers State in fourth (9.25) and Nebraska Kearney in fifth (9.25).

Northwest collected its second straight victory in the men's championship while the Pitt State women won their fourth consecutive title.

The Gorillas' women's soccer team made history in the 2025 season, winning the university's first-ever MIAA soccer championship in only the program's second season. Pitt State earned the regular season crown with a league record of 9-1-2.

A trio of teams were named MIAA co-champions in the 2025 volleyball season. Nebraska Kearney, Missouri Western and Washburn each ended the MIAA season 13-3 for a share of the regular season crown.

Pittsburg State and Northwest Missouri were named co-champions of the 2025 MIAA football season. Both the Bearcats and Gorillas ended the regular season with league records of 8-1.
