Kearney, Neb. – The Nebraska Kearney wrestling team and junior thrower Lily Novacek are at the 2025 NCAA Division II Winter Festival this weekend in Indianapolis.

The event began early this week with the men's and women's swimming & diving championships, an opening ceremony and service opportunities for the teams and individual qualifiers. 

Novacek (Kearney H.S.) competes in the women's weight throw on Friday at 11:15 a.m. (Central). A top 12 finish among 18 competitors is good for All-American status with live results available. Novacek currently ranks second in D2 (64-10.50) and has previously twice qualified for the outdoor championships.

The now top-ranked UNK wrestling team began its quest for a fifth national title Friday morning at 9 a.m. (Central). The other three sessions start at 4 p.m. (Central) Friday, 9 a.m. (Central) and 6 p.m. (Central) on Saturday. Live results/full brackets are available.  

The Lopers have all 10 starters in the field with nine being seeded in the top nine. The top eight finishers in each weight class earn AA status; since joining D2 in for the 1990-91 season, UNK wrestling has 152 All-Americans.
