Three Newcomers Named All-MIAA

Kearney, Neb. – Three newcomers represent Nebraska Kearney on the 2025 men's basketball All-MIAA squad.

Fifth-year senior Allen Taylor (Bradley, Ark.) and redshirt junior Ja'Bryant Hill (Duncanville, Texas) made the third-team with fifth-year senior wing Chase Thompson (Omaha Westside) named honorable mention. Each player has earned individual accolades at previous stops and each has started all 27 games to date.

The league's head coaches vote on the makeup of the squad and cannot vote for their own players.

Taylor has had a big surge at the end of the regular season to be at 16.3 points, 4.8 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 2.0 steals per game. Having four games of at least 25 points, the lefty is 91 of 123 at the line (74%), made 50 threes, and now leads UNK in scoring and is tied for first in steals. Finally, Taylor reached the rare 2,000-career point mark (now 2,107) in a win over Emporia State on Feb. 16.Chase Thompson

Also in the backcourt is Hill who enters the postseason at 16.0 points, 3.4 assists, 3.0 rebounds, and 2.0 steals a night. He leads UNK in assists, free throws made (97) and attempted (130) while tied for the lead in steals and ranking second in points. Finally, Hill has had nine 20-point games, got close to a triple double at Chadron State (20/9/7) and is up 1,305 career points. 

Thompson has played along the wing and in the paint to be at 15.0 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game. He leads UNK in both threes made (56) and attempted (141) while shooting 76% at the line. He's reached 20 points in seven different games and is closing in on 1,300 career points.

Guard Jacob Hanna of Washburn is the Defensive Player and Newcomer of the Year with WU's Brett Ballard the Coach of the Year. Finally, Central Missouri's Kyran Tilley is the top freshman with Pittsburg State sophomore guard Jordan Frison the Player of the Year.

UNK (12-15) is the fifth-seed in the MIAA Tournament in Kansas City and faces Frison and Pittsburg State this Friday at 12 p.m.
