Kearney, Neb. – The 23rd-ranked Nebraska Kearney women's tennis team won at Central Oklahoma, 5-2, on Saturday afternoon to earn a share of the 2025 MIAA regular season title and will be the top seed in next week's league tournament in Missouri.

The Lopers (18-4, 8-1 MIAA) won the 2024 title outright while sharing this year's crown with Washburn (17-2) and Northwest Missouri (12-7). UNK, thanks to two wins from Lincoln redshirt junior Clare Plachy at six singles this weekend, won the tiebreaker over both the 'Bods and 'Cats to earn the top seed an an opening round bye in the tournament.

In Edmond, UNK won at two and three doubles and took four of the singles matches to beat the Bronchos (10-6, 6-3) for a third straight time. Due to the weather, the dual was moved inside and played on three courts.

Plachy and sophomore Fabiana Gamboa (Venezuela) won 6-4 at three doubles with Plachy winning in three sets (-5, 3-6, 10-7) for the second consecutive dual. The six-team MIAA tourney is set for May 2-4 at the Cooper Tennis Complex. UNK will take on the winner of UCO and Emporia State, the four and five seeds, on Saturday.

On the men's side, No. 41 UNK (11-13) qualified for the MIAA-GAC Tournament in Springfield (April 30-May 2). The Lopers, the third seed in the North Division, face the 21st-ranked Harding (Ark.) Bison Wednesday at 2 p.m. HU (14-5) was the South's second-place team this season and beat the Lopers in February, 6-1, in a dual held in Arkansas.
