MIAA Preseason Poll Released

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association announced its preseason coaches' poll for the 2025 women's soccer season.

The 13 MIAA head coaches selected Central Missouri (132 points) just ahead of Central Oklahoma (126) for first place. Both the Jennies and Bronchos received four first place votes; they finished third and fourth last year in the MIAA standings with UCM winning the league tourney and then advancing to the NCAA Central Regional final.

Defending regular season Washburn (123) is fourth and received a league-best five first place votes with Missouri Western a point ahead in third.

UNK, in its 17th year as a program, garnered 69 points to rank eighth. The Lopers went 8-6-5 (4-5-3) in 2024 to finish seventh in the conference and reach the MIAA Tournament for the first time in nine years. Fourth-year head coach Rob Breton and his staff have a 2025 squad featuring 16 upperclassmen, All-Region forward Hanna Schimmer (Council Bluffs, Ia.) and All-MIAA selections Keila Gillispie (Newton, Kan.), Mia Lang (Papillion), and Daniella Iaquinta (Aurora, Colo.).

The Lopers begins fall camp on Monday (Aug. 18) morning and has three scrimmages before starting the season Sept. 5 in Minnesota. The exhibitions are at home vs. Wayne State (Aug. 23) and 402 Development Academy (Aug. 24) and at Augustana (Aug. 30).
 
The NCAA Division II women's soccer season officially kicks off Thursday, Sept. 4. To view a complete schedule of all 13 MIAA programs, click here. The MIAA Tournament is scheduled to begin on Sunday, Nov. 9 with the top four seeds hosting quarterfinal matches. The four remaining seeds then travel to Wichita for the semifinals and finals Nov. 13 and Nov. 15 at the Stryker Sports Complex.
