#5 UNK Goes 6-0 on Homestand, Pushes Buckle Streak to Third Best

Keanrey, Neb. – Eleven different players had a kill to help now fifth-ranked Nebraska Kearney sweep York University (-14, -17, -14) Tuesday night at the Health & Sports Center.

The Lopers (10-0) finish up their first home stand of 2025 with a 6-0 mark. That pushes the home court win streak to 35 in a row, third longest in program history. UNK has had two previous 66 match win streaks (Nov. 2002-Dec. 2005 & Sept. 2015-Oct. 2018).

The Panthers (7-12) put up a fight in each set, getting kills from seven different players with three having double digit dig efforts. However, UNK out hit YU by nearly 200 points, had four aces and eight team blocks.

All-American middle Mia Berg (Eureka, Mo.) led the way with 12 kills in 19 swings (.632 pct.) while right sides Brynn Stowell (Olathe, Kan.) and Lizzy Spah (Tea, S.D.) combined for nine kills in 24 attempts.  On the outside, freshman Addison Budke (Beloit, Kan.) had seven kills over the final two sets.

Defensively, redshirt sophomore middle Sydney Davis (Dannebrog) had a team-best five blocks with junior Ellie Spang (Ft. Wayne, Ind.) having 12 digs over the first two sets as the libero. Sophomore Anna Laincz (Lansing, Kan.) pulled that duty in the final set and finished with seven digs and went17 for 17 in serve receive on the night. Finally, reserve setter Julia Davenport (Papillion-LaVista) had 17 assists, nine digs and two aces.

UNK is at Truman (Mo.) State on Thursday, Illinois-Springfield on Friday and then battles Maryville (Mo.) Saturday morning at UIS.
