#5 UNK Goes 3 for 3 on Road Swing; MIAA Play Up Next

Kearney, Neb. – Junior outside Carly Purdy and sophomore right side Brynn Stowell combined for 23 kills and fifth-ranked Nebraska Kearney had 11 team blocks to sweep Maryville (Mo.) University (-13, -11, -21) Saturday morning in Springfield, Ill.

The Lopers (13-0) went 3 for 3 in beating Truman (Mo.) State, Illinois-Springfield and the MU Saints (4-6) in consecutive days to finish up the non-conference portion of its schedule.

Purdy (North Platte) came in averaging 3.8 kills per set and went for a team-best 12 today while hitting .270. She also had three block assists and two digs. Next, Stowell (Olathe, Kan.) reached 11 kills for the third time in the last five matches. She hit .385, had a team-best five blocks (two solo) and added four digs.

UNK out hit the Saints by nearly 200 points while also taking advantage of seven service errors and 12 unforced attack errors. Finally, both setter Peyton Neff (North Platte) and DS Anna Laincz (Lansing, Kan.) had 16 digs with junior libero Ellie Spang (Ft. Wayne, Ind.) adding 15 more.

The Lopers welcome in rival Central Missouri (7-2) next Friday night.
