UNK Competes in Oklahoma Meets

Kearney, Neb. – The Nebraska Kearney women's swimming team had a bush weekend, competing Friday and Saturday in Edmond, Okla.

The Aqualopers scored 660 points to place second out of three teams Friday and then tallied 176 points on Saturday to be fifth out of nine. That field included Division I North Texas.

In the triangular against Oklahoma Christian and Texas-Permian Basin, Norfolk senior Maggie Waddington won the 100-freestyle (55.35), was runner up in the 50-backstroke (28.56), and anchored the second place 200-free team (1:42.99). Beatrice freshman Jaedyn Baxa was the second leg for that squad who also was third in the 100 free (56.71) with Kansas freshman Joslynn Grace runner up in the 200-free (2:01.94) and fourth in the 100-buttefly (1:02.60). Finally, Kearney sophomore Katy Buse was third in the 50-free (25.91) with Colorado freshman Delaney Madnikoff fourth in both the 50 (32.25) and 100 (1:11.85) breaststroke.

On Saturday, Kansas City freshman Jacey McGraw finished third in the 200-backstroke (2:17.50), Baxa was fourth in the 100-back (1:03.96) with Waddington seventh in the 50 (25.39) and 200 (2:02.66) free. UNK also placed fourth in the 400-free relay (3:45.68) to pick up some big team points.

UNK will hold an Alumni meet on Oct. 18 (Saturday) with its next outside competition coming in November with its own invite.
