Kearney, Neb. – The Nebraska Kearney women's golf team fired a 36-hole total of 600, tied for fifth best in school history, to place second at the annual Central Region Preview Wednesday in Blue Springs, Mo.

This was the opening tournament of the 2025-26 season. Southern Nazarene of Oklahoma served as host at the par Adams Pointe G.C. (5,910 yards). The 18-team field included six MIAA programs.

UNK had efforts of 295 and 305 to trail only Central Missouri (586; 292-294). Missouri Western (602) and Northwest Missouri (603) were third and fourth, respectively, with Henderson State of Arkansas the top non-MIAA squad (607).

Freshman Pella Broms (Sweden) and junior Claire Berquist (Lawrence, Kan.) paced the Lopers by tying for third and sixth place. Broms shot an even par 144 thanks to a 70 on Wednesday. Her round started with an Eagle on the par 5 (453 yards) first hole and concluded with five straight pars. The 70 is three strokes off the school record with her tourney tally tied for third in the annuals.

Next, Berquist was two strokes back thanks to a career-best 146 that included an even par 72 on Tuesday. Her tournament featured five birdies and 25 pars. Junior Liz Lyons (Olathe, Kan.) also had a 72 in round one and tied for 33rd overall (155); she was 1-under on the back nine Tuesday afternoon.

Henderson's Lilly Nelson (4-under 140) edged UCM's Mia Rallo (3-under 141) for medalist honors. Finally for the Lopers, sophomore Calie Dockter (Byron, Minn.) tied for 48th place (157; 77-80) with redshirt senior Sofia Laserna Murra (Colombia) tied for 63rd (162; 81-81). In round two, Dockter had four birdies with Laserna at eight pars.

UNK heads to Spearfish, S.D., on Sept. 22-23 for the Homestake Invite.
