Lane & Neff Earn Academic All-American Honors

Keanrey, Neb. – Nebraska Kearney graduate setter Peyton Neff and senior outside hitter Emilee Lane have earned 2025 Academic All-American honors as selected by the College Sports Communicators (CSC).

A student athlete must first qualify for their Academic All-District team (be at least a sophomore; 3.50 cumulative GPA; start 66% of team matches or play in 90% of team matches) before advancing onto the national ballot. Next, a school can also nominate no more than four players for the All-District team. Finally, CSC/Sports Information Directors from around the nation vote on the makeup of the All-American team.

Neff (North Platte) is a repeat first-team selection with Lane (Hays, Kan.) on the second team. National Champion Metro State, Concordia-St. Paul, Missouri-St. Louis and Findlay (Ohio) were the other schools with two players chosen. The D2 team had a 3.96 cumulative GPA this year with 12 members posting a 4.00 GPA in their undergraduate and/or graduate studies. Finally, Neff was one of three repeat selections.

A fifth-year player this past fall, Neff graduated in the spring of 2024 Summa Cum Laude with a B.S. degree in Psychology (3.94 GPA). She now is a graduate student working towards a Master's in School Psychology (4.00 GPA). Next, Lane holds a 4.00 GPA as a Sports & Recreation Management major.

Both Neff and Lane were 2025 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-Americans for their work on the court. Neff came in at 11.2 assists, 2.7 digs, 0.7 kills, 0.5 blocks, and 0.2 aces per set while hitting .281. She played in 113 of a possible 114 sets and guided an efficient and balanced UNK offense that averaged 14.6 kps and hit .270. Next, Lane ranked second on the team in both kills (359) and kps (3.23) while hitting .267. She appeared in 111 sets and supplied 40 blocks, 82 digs, four assists and three aces.

UNK went 30-4 in 2025, winning the MIAA Tournament, being MIAA regular season tri-champions and reaching the second round of the NCAA Central Regional.
