RiverHawks Score Early & Late to Nip the Lopers, 2-1

Kearney, Neb. – Junior Brooke Dunn scored in the 87th minute to lift Northeastern State to a 2-1 victory over Nebraska Kearney Friday night in Tahlequah, Okla.

The RiverHawks move to 7-6-3 (3-5-2; 11 points) while the Lopers fall to 3-9-4 (1-7-2; five points).

Looking for its first result in seven tries at NSU, the Blue & Gold got off 10 shots with six on goal. The 'Hawks had the same shot total and five of the six corners. Junior Annabella Trotter got the home team on the board first with her seventh goal of the year just 11 minutes into the action. The shot came right after a UNK goal kick and the 'Hawks quickly countered with Trotter getting behind the defense and winning a one-on-one situation.

Getting three saves from Lincoln senior keeper Susie Bovaird, UNK knotted things with only 12 minutes remaining when Colorado junior Daniella Iaquinta went top shelf to tally her third goal of the fall. The Lopers quickly went the length of the field with the ball loose near the box. Iaquinta came in with her left foot and sent into the 'Hawks net.

However, after avoiding disaster at the other end of the field after a shanked goal kick, NSU had a throw with three minutes left deep in Loper territory. The ball found Dunn in the box for her first goal of 2026. Finally, Iceland senior Anna Thorhallsdottir had a pair of shots for the Lopers with Trotter at four for the 'Hawks.

UNK visits Central Oklahoma on Sunday afternoon. The Bronchos (8-5-3, 5-2-3; 18 points) bested Fort Hays State tonight, 2-1.
