Keanrey, Neb. – The Nebraska Kearney swimming team set a new school-record in the 800-freestyle relay Tuesday night at the Rocky Mountain Athletic (RMAC) Conference Championships in Grand Junction, Colo.

The 800 free was the day's only event; the meet begins in earnest Wed. (Feb. 11) morning at 11 a.m. Central with prelims in the 50 and 1,000 free and 200-medley. Finals are set for 6:30 p.m. Central and will include the 200-medley relay and men's 1-meter diving.

The foursome of Norfolk senior Maggie Waddington, Kansas City freshman Jacey McGraw, Kansas City senior Reese True and Topeka freshman Joslynn Grace turned in a raw 8:00.52 which easily breaks the mark of (altitude-converted) 8:00.62 in Feb. 2025. When altitude-converted, the new record drops to 7:56.72. This effort netted UNK 28 team points with a "B" squad scoring eight more. Finally, Waddington's lead swim is a new mark in the 200 free, to a converted 1:54.01. Claire Nash managed a 1:55.38 back in Nov. 2021.
