Waddington Paces UNK on Day Two of RMAC's

Kearney, Neb. – The Nebraska Kearney Aqualopers have tallied 96 points after two days of the Rocky Mountain Athletic (RMAC) Conference Championships in Grand Junction, Colo.

Nine women's teams are taking part in the five-day event with action beginning Tuesday and running until Saturday night. Host Colorado Mesa (440) has a healthy lead with UNK in seventh and ahead of Texas-Permian Basin and Adams State.

On Wednesday night, Norfolk senior Maggie Waddington tallied 25 points by finishing fifth in the 50 free (23.71). That is just off her school-record of 23.54 set a year ago; she turned in a 23.83 during prelims. Also scoring in this event was Beatrice freshman Jaedyn Baxa (24th/25.14).

UNK's other points (34 in all) came in the 200-medley relay. Baxa, Wyoming sophomore Jaesa Whitesell, Kansas City Reese True and Kearney sophomore Katy Buse finished eighth in 1:51.36. A "B" team came in 15th (1:55.38) and that foursome included Potter junior Jayden Shoemaker and Tekamah sophomore Gabriella Roche. Finally, Kansas freshman Joslynn Grace paced the team in the 200-individual medley (28th/altitude-converted 2:13.47) with Omaha sophomore Josey Fink leading in the 1,000-free (altitude-converted 11:38.10).

Action resumes Thursday at 11 a.m. Central with prelims in the 100 fly, 400 I.M., and 200 free with women's 3-meter diving starting at 2 p.m. Central.
