Lopers Pick Up a Win in Branson

Kearney, Neb. – Junior third baseman/catcher Gianna Galli went 2 for 4 with three RBI's and three pitchers worked at least two innings to help Nebraska Kearney beat Missouri-St. Louis, 4-2, Friday afternoon in Branson, Mo. 2026 Branson BC

This was the fourth and final game of the Branson Battle Classic. The tournament was moved up a full day to beat inclement weather with UNK dropping games to Quincy (Ill), 5-1, Arkansas Tech, 4-1, and Southern Nazarene (Okla.), 3-0. The Lopers are now 6-7 on the young season.

To beat the UMSL Tritons (4-5), Galli (Stockton, Calif.) had an RBI single to right in the first and a two-run double to right in the third. Junior newcomer and right fielder Zaria Brigham (Victoria, Texas) then had a run scoring double in the fifth to make it 4-1.

In the circle, starter Chloe Odle (Beloit, Kan.) limited St. Louis to one run over the first three innings. She threw 65 pitches and worked around five hits and walk thanks to five fly outs. Next, freshman lefty Teilar Fry (Carson, Calif.) got the win by allowing one run over the fourth and fifth innings with junior Zakayia Fredrick (Temple, Texas) getting the save. She blanked the Tritons and faced the minimum of six batters.

Southern Nazarene's Olivia Hernandez (7.0 IP, one hit, two walks, nine K's), ATU's Ainslee Moore (3.2 IP, five hits, one walk, four K's) and QU's Hailey Platt (7.0 IP, five hits, three walks, three K's) limited the Loper bats over the first three games.
