Wrestling Ranks Third in National Team GPA; 19 Individuals Tabbed

Kearney, Neb. – Nineteen members of the National Championship Nebraska-Kearney wrestling team have earned Division II Scholar All-American honors from National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA).

In order for a student-athlete to qualify, he must have a minimum 3.50 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale and competed in at least four events with the benchmark a 3.25 GPA for those who qualified for the 2026 NCAA Championships and a 3.00 GPA for those who were All-Americans.NWCA Logo
 
National runner up Crew Howard (Creston, Ia.) is now a four-time qualifier with national runner up Trenton Munoz (Santa Clarita, Calif.), All-American Joseph Airola (Ward, Colo.), national qualifier Zach Ourada (Omaha Skutt) and redshirt junior Tate Kuchera (Bassett) on the team for a third time. 

The Loper repeat selections are redshirt sophomores Jack Allen (Aurora), Brady Collins (Wray, Colo.), Cael Robb (Medford, Minn.) and Garrett Willuweit (Hewitt, Wisc.), redshirt junior Tre Daro (David City), All-American Jackson Kinsella (Creston, Ia.) and graduate student Caleb Coyle (Bennington). Finally, those making it for the first time are National Champion Otgonbayar Batsuuri (Mongolia), All-American Kaden Hart (St. Peters, Mo.), graduate Daniel DeRosier (Bellevue), redshirt sophomores Connor Ritonya (Bennington) and Alex Munoz (Santa Clarita, Calif.) and redshirt freshman Cadyn Coyle (Bennington) and Maddox Nelson (Underwood, Ia.). 

Northern State led in the Scholar All-American team race as the Wolves came in with a 3.598 GPA with Vanguard, Calif. (3.597) and UNK (3.548) literally right behind. A team's GPA is garnered from the 10 starters a program puts out at its respective regional tournament. 
 
This past winter, UNK finished won its second straight and sixth NCAA D2 Championship, its 24th consecutive top eight finish at that meet, as well as winning another Super Region VI title.
