Krista Williams was named Nebraska-Kearney’s head cheerleading coach in the spring of 2020.
The Kearney native also serves as a Special Education Paraprofessional at Kearney High School and, beginning in the spring of 2021, leads the KHS competitive cheer team. Williams is responsible for bringing back stunting to the UNK cheer program, starting with the fall of 2021.
Williams was a UNK cheerleader from 2016-20, serving as team captain, outreach coordinator, social media manager and choreography leader. Graduating with a B.S. degree in General Studies, Williams began her academic and cheerleading career at Concordia University. She was a member of the Dean’s List at both CU and UNK while being a Phi Kappa Honor Society invitee in Kearney. Williams also was a two-time Spirit Award recipient for Loper cheer.
A member of UNK’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, Williams served as a Shrine Bowl Cheer Camp coach for three seasons and was a tryout choreographer at Kearney High. During her prep days she was a member of the Bearcats cheer team and a UCA All-American in 2014-15.
Williams is AACCA, USA Cheer Safety and Risk Management Certified.
