Creighton Reed joined the Nebraska-Kearney coaching staff in the summer of 2015 as a student assistant and helped wide receivers coach Matt Miller.
In the spring of 2017, he led UNK's young receiving corps and, in the fall of 2017, will be one of the program's two graduate assistant coaches.
He will coach the outside receivers and long snappers and assist Levi Gallas on special teams. Reed's recruiting area is Central and Western Nebraska and Eastern Colorado.
Last season, receivers Malcolm Moore and Blake Holtmeier both earned All-MIAA honors. Moore became the first Loper in a decade to reach the 60 catch mark while Holtmeier had four games with six or more receptions. In 2015, receiver and kick returner Cougar Williams was named all-conference after amassing 722 all-purpose yards.
The former Adams Central High School standout was a quarterback on the Chadron State football team in 2013 and 2014.
Named honorable mention Academic All-RMAC (Rocky Mountain Athletic Conf.) in his time at Chadron, Reed led Adams Central to an 11-1 record in 2012 as the threw for 1,067 yards. In two years as a starter, he led the Pats to two third place finishes in the Class C-1 state playoffs.
Graduating from UNK in the summer of 2017 with a Sports Management degree, Reed is engaged to Shelby Stultz. They will marry in December 2017.
The son of Gary and Karlene, Reed's younger brother, Breckon, currently is a redshirt receiver on the Lopers.
