Doug Cooper earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Kansas and became a certified athletic trainer in 2009. He then came to UNK as a Graduate Assistant athletic trainer working with baseball, women’s basketball, and football.
In 2011, he earned his master’s degree in exercise science from UNK and took an assistant athletic trainer position at Truman State (Mo.) University, where he provided care for football, cross country, track, and men’s basketball.
In 2013, he was hired at New West Sports Medicine and Orthopedics in Kearney as an outreach athletic trainer where he provides care for rural high schools in Nebraska and Northwest Kansas. Since 2015, Cooper has continued his outreach while also providing coverage for UNK cross country, track & field, football and swim & dive.
Cooper resides in Kearney with his wife, Brooke, and their two children.
