Sara McCarty has served as Head Coach of the UNK Sapphires Dance team since 2013.
In her role, she directs the Sapphires in their performances and appearances throughout the event season, while also working with the Cheerleading Squad and Mascot to unify students, alumni and fans in support of Nebraska Kearney and its athletes.
A former Sapphire herself, McCarty has over 30 years of varying dance experience from studio training, competitive, to collegiate.
“Having the opportunity to coach for my Alma Mater is truly an honor. This program has grown so much over the years, and I look forward to all that’s ahead for our UNK Spirit Squad as a whole," said McCarty.
She also works in Bruner Hall of Science, as the Program Director for the Area Health Education Center of Central Nebraska.
Sara and her husband, Ryan, have two daughters;Â Amelia and Lillian.Â
