David Farias

David Farias joined Nebraska-Kearney soccer in the summer of 2019 and serves as the program's assistant coach. In this newly created position he'll works closely with the Kearney Soccer Association (KSA) throughout the year. 

Involved in all aspects of the program, he helped UNK win two games and tie seven others in 2019. The Lopers had three All-MIAA selections and one of the top defenses in the league with a 0.87 goals against average.

Farias, a California native, is familiar with the Midwest having played his final two college seasons at Kansas Wesleyan University in Salina. Beginning his soccer career at East Los Angeles C.C., he was a center back on KWU Coyote teams that won two KCAC (Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference) titles. Earning the NAIA's "Champions of Character award, Farias holds a B.A. in Applies Studies with a minor in Special Education from Azusa Pacific (Calif.) University. He moved into the classroom as a Special Ed teacher and also coached youth soccer for four years.

"I am very excited to add David as an assistant coach and welcome him to the Loper soccer family. David is hardworking, energetic, experienced, and passionate about the game of soccer," said Loper head coach Chloe Roberts. "David has the right coaching mentality that I am looking for in an assistant and will be a great addition to the program. I look forward to working with him, and the positive impact he will have on UNK soccer."

Farias helped created and develop the boys and girls varsity soccer programs at Alliance Margaret Bloomfield High School in Huntington Park, Calif. After a 1.5 year stint as head coach where he won 10 games, Farias moved on to an assistant coaching position at Linda Esperanza Marquez, a Division I program. While there he helped the boys' squad win two league titles.

While serving as an assistant coach at Marquez, he joined a non-profit soccer club team in Boca Jrs. Los Angeles. There he developed and assisted the team in winning back-to-back National Cup Championships and being Far West Regionals Finalists. Since then, Boca Juniors has been ranked number one in California.
