Men 4th in D2 Attendance, Outdraw 179 D1 Schools

Kearney, Neb. – The Nebraska-Kearney men's basketball team had Division II's fourth highest home attendance average for the 2015-16 season at 2,539 fans.
 
The NCAA recently released its national attendance report for all three divisions; a total of 32 million fans attended men's basketball games this past winter.
 
The Lopers, who went 21-12 and reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament in 2015-16, drew 33,017 fans over 13 games. 

Among the 179 Division I schools UNK outdrew were Nebraska-Omaha (2,265), South Dakota (1,873), North Dakota (1,850), Denver (1,675) and Northern Colorado (1,247).
 
UNK was one of 14 Central Region schools in the D2 Top 30. Northern State from Aberdeen, S.D., led the way with a 3,346 average with in-state rival and national champion Augustana at 2,726.
 
Other MIAA schools in the Top 30 were Fort Hays State (5th/2,471), Washburn (10th/1,890), Central Missouri (11th/1,887), Missouri Southern State (13th/1,751), Emporia State (17th/1,586), Missouri Western State (28th/1,345) and Pittsburg State (30th/1,268).

The MIAA led D2 in home attendance average (1,419) with the Lone Star Conference (1,267) second and the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (1,200) third. The NSIC is also in the Central Region.
