Kearney, Neb. – Senior Mallorie Kenczewicz scored a goal from about 10 yards outs early in the first half to lead the Colorado Christian women's soccer team to a 1-0 win over Nebraska-Kearney Thursday night at Ron & Carol Cope Stadium at Foster Field.
The Cougars (4-0-1) have yet to lose this fall with all four wins coming by 1-0 scores. In dropping it's first-ever RMAC game, the Lopers (1-4) have now lost four games in a row.
With a senior laden lineup, Christian out shot UNK 16-7 on the night, including a 9-4 edge in shots on goal.
In the early going, CCU had three shots, one being stopped by Loper keeper
Marissa Niday (Fremont). At 11:54, junior Jessica Smith found Kenczewicz who got free from the UNK defense and scored her first goal of the year.
Omaha freshman
Maggie McClure had two of UNK's two shots on goal with sophomore forward
Morgan Abert (Waupaca, Wisc.) having a direct kick opportunity midway through the 2nd half.
From about 10 yards out, and on the right side, her kick sailed just high of the Cougars net. Christian keeper Liana Signorile finished the game with four saves and earned her fourth win of the fall.
