Nebraska-Omaha improves to 7-1 while Nebraska-Kearney falls to 10-6 on the season.
UNO won five of the ten weight classes in the third period and won two more weight classes in sudden victory overtime.
At 125 lbs. to start the night, UNK redshirt freshman
Danny Luttrell (Arlington, TX) wrestled 2nd-ranked Terrell McKinney to overtime before giving up a takedown in the second sudden victory period to lose 6-4.
McKinney got a takedown in the third period with twenty seconds left to lead 4-3 but Luttrell had built up 1:13 of riding time to tie it at 4-4 and force extra time.
Three classes later at 149 lbs., sophomore
T.J. Hepburn (East Hampton, Conn.), ranked 4th, wrestled the 3rd- ranked Esai Dominguez to overtime as well but lost 5-3.
Dominguez got a takedown with nine seconds left in the third period to things at three; he then scored another takedown 19 seconds into the first sudden victory period.
Finally, senior
Taylor May (Imperial), ranked 6th at 165 lbs., fell to 4th-ranked Ryan Pankoke, 3-1.
Pankoke got an escape in the second period to lead 1-0. In the third period, May got the scored tied at one with an escape with 1:55 left but then Pankoke won the match with a takedown at the 1:31 mark.
