Kearney, Neb. – The Nebraska-Kearney cross country teams finished fourth (men) and fifth (women) at the FHSU Tiger Open Saturday morning in Hays, Kan.
The 16th-ranked Loper men scored
120 points to come in behind winner and No. 5 Western State (27), 2nd-ranked Colorado Mines (41) and a “B” team from Colorado (107).
UNK beat Air Force (148), Fort Hays State (171) and Northern Colorado (240 points), among others.

Lauren Stengel back in the lineup,
scored 116 points to beat six schools, including Northern Colorado (140).
Western State, ranked sixth nationally, tallied a perfect 15 points to win with the “B” team from Colorado runner up (99), Mines third (101) and Hays (110) fourth.
Individually, Ogallala senior
Tanner Fruit placed fifth in a field of 156 runners by running a 23:58.80. Ben Zywicki of Mines paced the field in 23:48.60.
Minden junior
Al Sanabria was the other Loper to crack the top 30, coming in 11th place (24:18.60).
The Loper women were once again led by Dickens sophomore
Brooke Harris (16th/18:14.70) with Long close behind in 18th place (18:18.70).
Western's Lauren Kleppin won, by nearly 20 seconds, by running a 16:59.40.
UNK runs at the RMAC Championships in three weeks.
