Kearney, Neb. – Thanks to a win from junior heavyweight 
Ben Hohensee, the 9th-ranked Nebraska-Kearney wrestling team beat 16th ranked Adams State, 
24-21, Wednesday night in Alamosa.
Nebraska-Kearney improves to 15-6 (6-0 RMAC) while the Grizzlies fall to 7-6, (4-4 RMAC). Earlier on Wednesday, UNK won at CSU-Pueblo and then drove over to Alamosa. 
As expected, the dual was Adams was very close as each team won five times with the team score being tied on three different occasions. 
Senior 
Joey Morrison (Lincoln) scored the Lopers first points of the dual at 133 lbs. with a pin of Dominic Valencia 34 seconds into the match. Morrison's 12 fall of the season and second of the day, it gave UNK a 6-3 lead.
Two classes later, 4th-ranked T.J Hepburn (East Hampton, CT)  got a decision over Daniel Kelly, 8-4, giving the Lopers three points to tie the dual at nine. With the win over Kelly, Hepburn is now 34-6 on the year and 16-4 in duals.
UNK then got back to back wins at 165 lbs and 174 lbs. to grab a six point lead over the Grizzlies, 21-15. 
At 165 lbs., senior 
Taylor May (Imperial) pinned Anthony Gomez in 47 seconds. Next, top-ranked Marty Usman (Arlington, TX) won his match by forfeit.
Adams wouldn't go away, however, winning the next two weights by decision. Torben Walters managed a narrow 9-8 victory at 184 lbs. to start the comeback
Finally, Hohensee (Monett, Mo.) picked up his 22nd win of the year, a 3-2 decision over Jeff Schossow to end the night and give UNK the dual win.
Big Ben recorded a takedown early in the 1st period and that was enough to beat Schossow, who also plays football for Adams.
Morrison, Hepburn, May and Usman all went 2-0 on the day. Nebraska-Kearney wrestles at New Mexico Highlands Thursday night.
