Kearney, Neb. - Nebraska-Kearney junior
Tanner Fruit has made the USTFCCA (U.S. Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association) Cross Country All-Academic team for the second straight year.
To qualify for All-Academic honors, a student-athlete must have completed at least 12 semester/quarter hours through the semester of competition at the institution to be eligible.
The student-athlete also must have at least a 3.25 cumulative GPA and have placed in the top 30 % of the total number of athletes eligible to compete at the respective regional championships or have placed in the top 50% of the field at the NCAA Division II Championships.
In 2009, a total of 152 student-athletes representing 78 schools, made this Academic team.
This past fall, Fruit (Ogallala) earned All-RMAC honors for a second straight season and, despite suffering a serious foot injury, qualified for the NCAA Championships. He carries a 3.64 GPA as an Exercise Science major.
