Kearney, Neb. - Nebraska-Kearney seniors
Spencer Huff and
Rich Mourer competed Friday at the 2010 NCAA Indoor Championships in Albuquerque, N.M.
The two-day event is being held at the Albuquerque Convention Center and is hosted by RMAC-member Adams State.
This afternoon in the weight throw, Mourer (Colorado Springs) placed 11th with a top throw of 57-6.25. Jason Stomps of Hillsdale (Michigan) won the national title with a toss of 70-8.50.
Mourer's top effort came on his first attempt. He also had a throw of 56-5.25 before fouling on his third and final throw.
During the regular season, Mourer's best throw measured 63-8.25.
This evening, Huff (York) competed in the long jump.
Trying to bounce back from a hamstring injury sustained at the RMAC Championships just two weeks ago, Huff placed 12th with a top leap of 18-0.50.
He fouled on his first two attempts and then recorded a mark in his final jump.
Nafee Harris of Indiana (Pa.) came in first at 25-7.25. When healthy this year, Huff had a top mark of 24-3.75, a number that would've placed him third tonight.
On Saturday,
Dane Tobey and Sam Murphy will compete in the men's and women's shot put with
Marty Molina taking part in the triple jump.
