Basart & Stuckey Earn All-American Honors as UNK Wraps Up Strong NCAA Meet

Kearney, Neb. – Senior Rylan Basart and sophomore Kassidy Stuckey earned first-team All-American honors Saturday at the 2026 NCAA Division II Outdoor Championships in Emporia, Kan.

The three-day meet, hosted by Emporia State, wrapped up late Saturday night. The Loper tied for 13th place (23 points) while the wom tied for 27 (11 points). The Grand Valley (Mich.) State Laker men slipped past Pittsburg State, 66-61, for the national title with West Texas A&M women having an even tighter race for first with Pitt, 64-63.2. WT won the 4x4 relay (10 points) while Pitt came in fourth to score five (3:35.86). Western Washington was third at 3:35.65 and added six points to its score. 

Basart (Stockton, Kan.) is now a three-time All-American in the javelin with Stuckey (York H.S.) a two-time All-American after placing sixth in the mile back in March.

To start the day, Basart was the top American in the javelin. His third throw flew a season-best 230-9 and allowed him to place fourth overall. German national Laurenz Waldbauer of Northwest Nazarene (Idaho) had throws of 241-3 and 240-7 to win with throwers from Slovenia (236-6) and Spain (234-2) right behind. Basart's other attempts were between 203-0 and 215-9 as the MIAA had five of the top 12 finishers.

Stuckey (McCool Junction) was 8th in the 1,500-meter finals thanks to a 4:22.70. Aria Hawkins of Lee (Tenn.) came on strong to win the national title in a time of 4:19.30. Stuckey joins Micelle Dill ('07) as the only Loper women to AA in this event.

Finally, Gretna senior Clayton Kelly was 17th in the triple jump. He had efforts of 48-2, 48-0.25 and 47-10.50. Yves Bilong from Harding (Ark.) won the national title thanks to a leap of 53-0.25 with the 16th and final AA spot going to Jayden Bennermon of Catawba (48-3.75).

The cross country season begins in September.
