Kearney, Neb. - The Nebraska-Kearney women's tennis team saw its season come to an end Wednesday morning with a
5-0 loss to 2nd-ranked Barry (Fla.) in an NCAA Sweet 16 match in Altamonte Springs, Fla.
The Buccaneers (24-3) advanced to the Elite Eight where they will face two-time defending national champ Armstrong Atlantic State (Ga.) on Thursday. The Lopers, who had won 14 duals in a row, end the year at 17-6.
In doubles, BU won by scores of 8-3, 8-3 and 8-2 to take a 3-0 lead. Caroline Wendling (France) and Julie Stas (Belgium) then won at No. 4 and No. 5 singles in straight sets to secure the dual win.
