Six Named to Academic All-District Squad

Kearney, Neb. – Six members of the Nebraska Kearney men's and women's tennis team recently earned Academic All-District honors from the College Sports Communicators (CSC).

This award went through a change prior the 2022-23 academic year and had additional changes since. To qualify now, a student-athlete must maintain a 3.50 cumulative GPA, attended two consecutive semesters at their current school and have played in 70% of their team's scored events (i.e. fall open tournaments not included) during the season. In addition, schools can nominate no more than four per gender.

Previously, Academic All-District nominees could've posted a 3.25 cumulative GPA, there was no game percentage requirement with honorees selected by a random vote. Now, all qualifiers receive Academic All-District distinction.

UNK's 2025-26 qualifiers are redshirt senior Clare Plachy (Lincoln Pius) and juniors Andy Brisdon (U.K.), Fabiana Gamboa (Venezuela), Jakub Strzelecki (Poland), Tom van den Dungen (Netherlands), and Julia Wartecka (Poland). Select qualifiers move onto the national ballot where they could earn Academic All-American status; that team will be announced June 2 (women) and June 3 (men).
