In facing three West Division teams, and the Eagles, the Lopers need to keep winning as now 24th-ranked Colorado School of Mines is just one game back in the league standings. And, the Orediggers beat UNK in four sets back in September.
Since the fall of 1999, Kearney is an amazing 217-19 (91.9 win pct.) in RMAC regular season matches. UNK will be heavily favored to reach 221 wins by next Wednesday as the Mountaineers, Mavericks, Skyhawks and Eagles are a combined 21-53.
A Western (4-13, 1-8 RMAC) team that features no seniors and just one junior won at Fort Lewis, 3-1, last weekend to stop a 10-match losing streak. Averaging 16.1 digs per set, WSC is being led by sophomores Josie Hopkins (2.47 kps) and Kallee Cool (2.27 kps).
In a rebuilding year after being an NCAA Tournament-caliber squad the past few seasons, Mesa (7-12, 2-7 RMAC) is coming off a four-set loss to CSU-Pueblo.
They still have one of the top players in the West in senior middle Antoinette McCormick (2.38 kps, 0.74 bps) with juniors Kelly Regimbal (2.97 kps) and Megan Rush (4.41 dps) picking up the slack left by several 2010 seniors.
Fort Lewis (5-12, 2-7 RMAC) upset Pueblo, 3-2, last weekend, only to lose to Western the next day. Another young club, senior outside Jessica Wilson and freshman outside Ashley Wells each average 2.15 kills per set with sophomore Jenna Kinzer at 4.52 dps.
UNK continues to dominate the RMAC stats, leading the league in five different categories. Maybe more importantly, the Lopers rank third in blocks per set (2.09), up eight spots from last fall (1.83).
Individually, middles
Haley Lake (.376) and
Ellie Pesavento (.356) rank 1-2 in the RMAC in attack percentage with junior
Jenna Rouzee (11.41) first in assists per set. Finally, true freshman
Liz McGowan is fourth in digs at 4.84 per set.
